Wealth will enable a man to by a lot of things however, in the end it’s not going to be the thing that matters.

The Egyptian-born businessman decided to sell his impressive Harrods store in London.

He sold the store to the Qatar royal family’s investment company Qatar Holding.

The deal was rumoured to have been closed around $2.3 billion. However, this amount was not confirmed by the adviser of the Al Fayed family.

The main reason why Mohammed Al Fayed sold his high-end store is he wants to spend more time with his children and grand-children.

Although he’s retired he will continue to be an honorary chairman of the store.

Qatar Holding was specifically chosen because this is the company that has the “vision and capacity to support the long-term successful growth of Harrods.”

Harrods was established in 1840 and this latest acquisition makes Qatar Holdings its fifth owner.

Just because you have a credit card doesn’t mean you should go out and spend spend spend, yes?

Equally true is the notion that interest free and not paying until 2012 will not cost you anything, wrong. You still have to pay for the goods, so why don’t you save up and wait until you have enough cash to buy your goods? Because you are saving your cash for Friday night down the pub or clubbing at the weekend?

Buy the dress on credit and buy the drinks with your hard earned cash is not the way forward. If you don’t have the cash you shouldn’t use the magical fairy tale monopoly money. The reason is simple, interest. You end up paying more back in the long term and this is why banks make billions and billions of profits.

Yes of course they make mistakes but thats because they are greedy little bankers and this fact alone does not provide an excuse for you to go and spend imaginary money. OK now that is out of the way, where are all the best deals? The only place to get the best deals at Easter are in the local markets and out of twon shopping retail outlets, they have massive discounts on end of line styles so go shop.

As the Christmas sales end and the increase in VAT the UK consumer now has to consider with retail therapy is best spent online or travelling to the nearest shopping centre. No one would dispute that shopping online make life so much easier, no traffic to deal with for 1 and no playing dodgems during parking. The real question is where is all this going. It’s not always down to choice – impulse buying for example is more often than not carried out after a social gathering. A trip to the coffee shop will almost invariably mean walking past lots of nicely dressed windows teasing you in to try something on.

Do websites that tease you make shopping easier and the retail therapy more pleasurable or do you just want to grab that bargain as soon as you see it. The site we liked most for grabbing a bargain was Seven Day Offer but this went into hibernation following the Christmas of 2008. The plans for the online bargain site is to relaunch during the 2 quarter of 2010 with selective offers.

It’s not easy for retailers to follow trends and this includes the high street giants such as Marks and Spencers. One thing is for sure though they use the might of psychological advertsing to tempt you in. M&S for example plagued the TV screens with plumb luscious tasty delights for the festive season – ‘go on get stuck in and enjoy yourself’ Followed by the New Year mantra – get yourseklf fit and watch what you eat with our healthy selection of foods, specially for you! It’s a little rich when you have time to sit back and think of the manipulation but isn’t that jsyut the point, we dont have the time.

Feed it to us we just don’t have the time to care.

So where is my bargain?? Well to get your first vouchers for 2010 you need to register with My Retail Therapy.
